Abstract
Chemical examination of the bark of Macaranga tanarius (L.) Muell. et Arg. (Euphorbiaceae) has led to the isolation of 10 known tannins(l-l0). These tannins are corilagin (1), mallotinic acid(2), geraniin(3), marcarinin A (4), putranjivain B(5), putranjivain A(6), mallotunin(7), mallophilinin (8), repandusinic acid A(9) and phyllanthusiin C(10). These structures were identified on the basis of their physical properties and spectroscopic evidences.
